Full description

Hodson Bay Hotel is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the property. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will help maintain a safe, efficient and welcoming environment for guests and team members. Key Responsibilities

  • Complete planned preventative, reactive and emergency maintenance across the hotel, leisure centre, plant areas and grounds.
  • Carry out routine inspections, plant checks and meter readings to identify potential faults before equipment failure.
  • Diagnose faults and complete first‑line mechanical and electrical repairs.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot pumps, motors, boilers, heating and hot‑water systems, HVAC, BMS, lighting, plumbing and hotel operational equipment.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests and breakdowns, prioritising issues in a busy hotel environment.
  • Support energy‑efficiency initiatives and maintain accurate work orders, PPM documentation and compliance records.
  • Liaise with specialist contractors and maintain appropriate stocks of tools, parts, consumables and critical spares.
  • Complete all work safely and to a high standard, support wider facilities tasks and participate in an on‑call or out‑of‑hours rota where required.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in a hands‑on technical maintenance, facilities or engineering role, ideally in hospitality or a similar commercial environment.
  • A relevant qualification in a mechanical or electrical trade is essential.
  • Strong practical knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems, including pumps, motors, HVAC, heating systems, controls and other building‑services equipment.
  • Strong preventative‑maintenance, fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to prioritise issues in a busy operational environment.
  • Ability to understand technical information, equipment manuals and basic electrical or mechanical schematics, with a strong focus on safety.
  • Good communication skills and a flexible, practical approach, with the ability to work independently and with colleagues and contractors.
  • A full driving licence is essential.
